What is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist and why should I hire one?

An ISA Board Certified Master Arborist (BCMA) has achieved the highest level of certification offered by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). In addition to passing an extensive scenario-based exam, candidates must abide by a strict Code of Ethics, which ensure you’re getting the highest quality of care for your trees. With less than two percent of all ISA Certified Arborists currently hold this certification, making them the ultimate tree experts.

When you hire an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist means you can expect exceptional service. From expert advice to solutions tailored to your specific needs, you’ll have peace of mind knowing your trees are receiving care from the industry’s most respected arborists.

What is a consulting arborist?

A consulting arborist is a tree expert who provides in-depth assessments, reports, and recommendations regarding the health, safety, and preservation of trees. In addition to diagnosing problems like disease, insect infestations, or structural weaknesses, a consulting arborist can also determine the value of trees on your property, create customized tree management plans, and serve as expert witnesses in some legal cases involving trees.

Can you give me an estimate over the phone?

Unfortunately, providing phone estimates for tree services isn’t possible. For us to give you an accurate quote, we need to assess the trees and surrounding area in person. This allows us to consider the factors unique to each tree like size, condition, access, and potential hazards, ensuring a safe and efficient job at the right price.

Do you charge for estimates?

No, we do not charge for estimates, but we do charge for consultations.

What is the difference between an estimate and a consultation?

Estimates are always free. This is a good option if you already know what kind of tree service you need, like trimming, pest infestation, or removal. We’ll send a Board Certified Master Arborist to diagnose the problem and offer solutions based on his assessment.

On the other hand, a consultation is a paid service we offer for all types of clients including homeowners, businesses, and municipalities. If you’re unsure about your trees or want professional advice on how to care for them long-term, a consultation is a great first step.

Some of our services that require a consultation first include:

Contract Preparation and Supervision

Diagnosis of Tree and Landscape Problems

Expert Witness and Litigation

Forensic Investigations

Tree Risk Assessments and Surveys

Insect and Disease Identification and Management

Municipal Ordinance Development

Plant Health Care Programs

Training and Education

Tree, Landscape, and Nursery Appraisals

Tree Management for Arboreta, Golf Courses, and Nurseries

Tree Plant Inventories

Tree Planting Programs

Tree Protection for Construction Projects

Are you fully insured for tree work?

Yes, and we are happy to provide a certificate of insurance to any customer upon request.

Do I have to be on-site for an estimate?

We love meeting our clients face-to-face! That’s why we offer flexible appointment times, including evenings and weekends. If you are unable to meet us in person for an on-site assessment, please let us know in advance and we will work with you to accommodate your specific needs.

Do I need to be home for work to be done?

In most cases, no, you don’t need to be home while the work is being done. One exception is if the work area isn’t accessible without you being there. For example, if there’s a locked gate or fence that needs to be opened.

Otherwise, our crew will have a detailed work order outlining the project based on the consulting arborist’s recommendations.
